BeOnTheWeb
Hi, just had to replace my motherboard and to save money in the short term have bought one of the above boards as it can utilize my existing RAM and AGP Graphic Card etc. I am currently using Corsair DDR400 RAM but would like to upgrade to some DDR2 RAM as soon as I can. I have checked on the Corsair Memory Configurator but unfortunately it does not specify any DDR2 memory for this motherboard. The motherboard specification states "Supports Dual Channel DDR2 667". Please could someone recommend which is the best Corsair memory to use with this motherboard, and also whether it would be possible to utilize some (XMS2) DDR2 PC6400 800Mhz RAM and run it at 667Mhz? Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 29, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 29, 2008 You MB or the MB you listed in indeed listed but only shows support for DDR1 memory. http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/product_results.aspx?id=280348 I would check with the MB maker for compatible memory if it does indeed support DDR2. Thanks for the reply. According to this ASRock link : http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=4CoreDual-SATA2 the MB does support both DDR1 and DDR2 (exclusive of each other). Maybe the Memory Configurator needs updating?(1) Based on the information in the link, what Corsair memory would be compatible, and if given a choice, which would you recommend?(2) Also, going back to my original post, could I use faster RAM i.e. 800Mhz (looking to upgrade to a faster MB in the future)? Would it slow down to what the MB could handle i.e. 667Mhz? Thanks.
