dondondonnieboy
Hello all, Has anyone ever been able to get 4 sticks of corsair ram running in the DFI lanparty SLI-DR with a AMD Athlon X2 4400+ with the last bios they offically released (04/06/2008)? I have 4 modules (all exactly the same) and can get two working flawlessly without any errors when running memtest, but as soon as I fill those last two yellow slots, I get the nice long beeps signaling memory issues so I never even get to the bios. I know all four sticks of ram are fine (works great in the 2 other boxes I've tested it with) and I know the board is fine (can get four gigs running the 4 ******** modules my friend has). I've tried a couple different timings, but the one that works the best for using two gigs is the following: CL: 3 tRCD: 3 tRP: 3 tRAS: 8 tRC: 7 CR: 1T I've tried switched CR to 2T, upping the VDIMM to 2.8, and changing the timings, all with the same result: memory error beeps. I contacted DFI on the issue, who ended up directing me to Corsair and their ram guy :D. Thanks in advanced!

Since you can get another two sets of DRAM to work in your system, I would advise you to use those DRAM. You have done everything I would advise. You can not run four DRAM slots populated with a command rate of 1T. DFI is known to be very finicky with DRAM so since you have found DRAM that works in a four slot population, you may find it far more simpler to sell the DRAM you have and move to the DRAM that works. That's what I would do at any rate.
dondondonnieboy
Yeah, but... I really cannot accept defeat like that. Not to mention to get rid of the ram would require me to sell it at a loss.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 2, 2008 I would try and set the memory frequency at DDR333 and set the timings to Cas 2.5-3-3-7 at 2.8 Volts and then see if it will post with 4 modules. dondondonnieboy
Unfortunately, no luck there either. I'm beginning to wonder if it is impossible to get 4 gigs into the system with corsair memory and my current CPU. Although I'd hate to move to an opteron an still see the system unable to boot. I'm probably going to look at the timing tables of all four memory modules and see if for some funny reason one of them isn't exactly the same as the others, and attempt to flash as needed. On a funny side note, with two sticks of memory in dual channel I can crank the memory to be 533 2.5 225 settings and it runs like a top :P. Edit/Delete Message Then it's not the memory, did you try the modules one at a time in all four slots to make sure one of the slots was not the problem? dondondonnieboy
Unfortunately all sticks of ram work in all slots. I've read that these boards in conjunction with the CPU can be a bear to get working correctly.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 7, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 7, 2008 That is true this MB has been pcky at best with memory.
