aalexko
I ran memtest with each VS1GB400C3 module. One pass 6 the other pass 3. I got pass complete and no errors for both modules. I am having the problem of my computer rebooting often on its own when using 2GB of ram in dual channel, single channel works fine with 2GB. This is from the MSI manual - The mainboard provides 3 slots for 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM (Double In-Line Memory Module) modules and supports the memory size up to 3GB. You can install DDR200/266/333/400 modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DIMM 1~3). Please note that the system supports 128-bit dual channel DDR when you install DDR modules on DIMM1 (purple slot) and DIMM3 (green slot), or DIMM2 (purple slot) and DIMM3 (green slot) I tried both (DIMM1 and DIMM3) and then (DIMM2 and DIMM3) for dual channel, and have still having the same problems. DerekT
If you pass memtest, then you very likely have an issue with the motherboard as that DRAM should not need any special voltage settings from the board automatic. I would contact MSI with regards to this issue.
aalexko
It seems that DIMM3 (green slot) has some problems. I put the new Corair ram in DIMM1 and 2, I put back my old ram that was in DIMM3 before, it says I have 2.5GB of RAM and it says it is in Dual Channel. It is working fine now, I think I will keep it this way. Thank you.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 29, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 29, 2008 If the system is stable and working then I would agree let's not fix what is not broke.
