Amurtigress
Hello, first off let me clarify a little detail. I am using two sets of TW3X2G1600C9DHX modules on this mainboard, but I did not expect them to reach 1600 anyway. I am perfectly happy with them being stable at 1380 right now. I am also aware that those modules were not certified to run in 4 pieces on this board. It seems to me that ASUS' defaults are screwed. Once you change the BIOS from AUTO to MANUAL memory settings, it would show me 5-5-5-15-5 as defaults. This sounds so very much like DDR2 defaults! An experienced user like me would set the first four to something like 9-9-9-24, but since the tRRD (RAS to RAD delay) value isn't stored in the SPD chip, the ASUS BIOS would default it to 5 again. And exactly that looks extremely off to me. As I learned now, a value of 8-10 or even more should be suitable. Hence my question, What does Corsair (TheRAMguy?) recommend for tRRD and tRFC for the P5Q3 Deluxe? Does it make any sense to have 5 as default for tRRD, or did ASUS screw up? Another thing: One of my two sets of modules came with an XMS profile in the SPD, and the Part Number field programmed to CM3X1G1600C9DHXIN. I know that this is not an issue, it just irked me. How come?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 25, 2008 Any setting not listed should be set to AUTO or BIOS default, and we do not specify these settings. You might look this/those setting /'s up on the BIOS Optimization Guide at Techarp and get a better explanation.
