PP27
Hello friends: I'm building a system and had some trouble with an intel motherboard so I'm returning that motherboard. Now I have 2 sets of memory's as you can see on my specs. The problem is I don't know which motherboard I should get now :(:. Could you please help me out....with those specs that I currently own, should I get a DDR3 motherboard or DDR2 mobo? Please let me know in your experience which motherboards works best with either of those memory. I'm kinda scared now to buy another board. Thank you. !
PP27
DX48BT2, due to inability to get it to work propertly with the DD3 memory I have on specs. Didn't ran Memtest since I checked both sticks one at a time on different slots and the same problem so I know both sticks can't be bad. I think. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 24, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 24, 2008 I am a little confused by your post's and not quite sure what you are asking. And there is no problem with the Intel: DX48BT2 it will run great with the most of DDR3 modules the only thing is that you would have to over clock the CPU to get it to run our DDR1600 Modules
PP27
Sorry: I first order that board thinking it will support DDR2 memory because I first though on buying an asus who supported DDR2 with the same chipset and I assumed that the Intel would take DDR2 as well then I had to order the DDR3 memory that's why I have 2 sets of memory. Well I assembled the machine with the DDR3 memory we are talking about and then: -Locks, freezes, bsods etc etc etc. VERY unstable. Updated to latest bios with no luck( used memory at 1333 of course, changed slots since this board its very confusing about which slots memory should go. Played with bios settings from default configurations to manual imput from other forums with people with same problems etc etc. I'm thinking on RMA both memory and board and stick with a DDR2 board. But if you tell me that all this problems will go away overclocking the CPU I will definitely will give it a try (although its back in his box already). Please let me know. And for what I was asking is, which motherboard you recommend from experience to be very stable/ good performance with either of this type of memory so I can choose one in case this one doesn't do it for me. So you mean I need to OC the fsb to 1600? for the machine can be stable? Well the problem is that Its even difficult to get into de BIOS : sometimes it won't post and sometimes freezes while im changing settings in the bios. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 25, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS and test the modules one at a time But with Intel the memory frequency will have to be 1-1 with the CPU FSB IE if your CPU FSB is at 333 Mhz 1333 FSB then the fastest you can run the memory would be DDR1333. And I am sorry as I cannot specify one MB over another as it would cause a conflict of interest for me. But I would look up the modules you have and see what MB or MB's we use to validate the specific modules to get an idea of what we would use.
