Value Select and Dell Dimension 4600

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with P4 2.8C (HT, 800 FSB) and that came with 256 Mb of 400 MHz PC3200 RAM operating in dual channel mode. After adding a single module of 512 MB PC3200 Corsair Value Select RAM, I found that my memory bus speed has been downgraded to 333Mhz. Can anyone explain to me why this should happen? I can understand the loss of dual channel since the additional memory was not added as matching pair, but why should the memory bus speed be affected when all of the installed memory should be able to support the higher 400 MHz speed?

You are mixing different module grades of memory, and the MB bios will select the speed of the memory based on the closest match to both modules. I would suggest either you get another one of our modules and just use ours or that you use a module that matches what you are using.

Could you please explain "module grade"? Is this different from the rated speed or the CL rating (which I believe is CL 3 for both sets of memory)?
