jylong
Hi, I recently got an 8GB Voyager Mini, and it's *perfect* for the kind of use I had in mind (wear it around my neck for day to day things). I was wondering something about the 'slider' on the bottom which is used to retract the USB chip though: I noticed that it 'locks' into place at both the fully open and fully closed positions via small notches at either side of the slider. I also noticed that in these 'locked' positions, it only takes *very* light downward pressure on the slider to 'unlock' it, and allow the chip to slide out(light touch with the tip of a fingernail). Is this normal for these models? The USB connector still stays solid enough to be pushed into a slot, but I've been used to the Sandisk Cruzers, which need a bit more *intentional* pressure on the slider to unlock and retract/extend. There have also been references in reviews to connectors 'clicking' solidly into place, which doesn't seem to be happening with mine. Is it just me? Thanks! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 22, 2008 That is normal and just hold the Slider Button when inserting the drive if its getting loose.
jylong
Thanks for that. Is there a limit to the 'looseness' of the slider/USB connector though? It's getting to the stage where I can slide it closed by pushing on the external end of the connector with just my thumb. I've also noticed that the 2 components of the USB connector (I think they're the actual chip component, and the 'slider' part that supports it) are starting to separate from each other. It's starting to concern me somewhat. Thanks. Dave
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 23, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 23, 2008 Not really, it will get loose over time, but if you feel its to loose we can replace it.
jylong
Thanks for that. I might actually send it in for you guys to have a look at, as all this has happened after less than a day. No offense to you all of course, as I have previous corsair products, and they're all great. Will put in an RMA req. and send it out. Thanks. NeonElixir
I'm experiencing this same issue on my 4 GB version. The slide is very loose and pretty much stays open all the time. It makes it incredibly difficult to insert into connectors that aren't particularly accessible. Has this design been improved at all? I imagine it's just going to keep happening if I get a replacement. - Brett

NeonElixir
I have already posted how to get the drive replaced. Yes, I saw that. I wondered if anything has changed with the design so that it doesn't loosen up so quickly.
