mageej
Today I did a BIOS update with EZ Flash on my ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus. My current memory sticks are 2 of the CM2X1024-6400C4PRO as a matched pair. A few days before this and till today, whenever I turned on my computer, I got the "AWDFLASH.EXE" error. It said; bios rom checksum error detecting floppy drive A media... drive media is : 1.44mb automatic load AWDFLASH.EXE ........ !! ERROR __ AWDFLASH.EXE not found !! replace disk and press enter I haven't been trying to update my BIOS when this error came up. Just all of a sudden. (Isn't that how it always happens!). Anyway, after the system told me it was going to reboot, it didn't! No POST, no screen, just the computer running. I started getting long continuous beeps. I immediately went to the manual, the forums, and my experience for troubleshooting. I did the RTC jumper, CMOS battery, checking everything! I thought I had a corrupt BIOS chip. I then thought of my emergency backup stick of Corsair xms1024-6400c, so I put it in by itself and bam!, it booted up with no problem. I've had to RMA these 2 sticks of C4 PRO twice already, and now I have to do it a 3rd time! RAM GUY, can you help me on this please? What I'd like to do is RMA these and get 2 4gig sticks of memory. I don't want the C4PRO anymore. Is this possible? Thanks.
Wired
Go back to the original memory. Removing the memory may have solved the issue, as it doesn't sound like a memory issue at all.
mageej
The problem is that I did that and I still got the long continuous beeping and no POST. I'm still running the backup stick right now. The other 2 aren't working correctly.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 22, 2008 With the original 2 modules, I would test them one at a time and see if they do the same thing individually. If one of the modules fails and the other works, then we will need to replace both of them for you. However, if you get errors with both of them, that would usually suggest some other problem. Let us know your results!
mageej
I've already tested them both individualy, and neither one works anymore! I just don't get it. They were fine up until the BIOS Flash. When I test them individually, I get no POST, no video, and the long continuous beeping. The backup stick works with no problem. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 23, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 23, 2008 That may suggest some other problem, can you test the modules in another system to be sure.
mageej
I'll try that.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 25, 2008 I'll try that. If the are failing in a second system, then lets get them replaced. You can use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
mageej
Here's what I got; Stick 1 ------- Slot 1 - long beep, no POST Slot 2 - long beep, no POST Slot 3 - no POST Slot 4 - no POST Stick 2 ------- Slot 1 - long beep, no POST Slot 2 - long beep, no POST Slot 3 - long beep, no POST Slot 4 - long beep, no POST RAM GUY, instead of getting the same modules back, can I get a trade for other modules in a bigger capacity? Say, with a copy of my receipt for these sticks, get 2 X 2gb modules equal to 4gigs? I really don't want to get the same modules as a replacement. If not, I'll just get new ones. Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 27, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 27, 2008 I am sorry but we do not sell direct and do not have an easy way to change to another part number. I would suggest getting the RMA number then calling our customer service and see what they can do if anything. 888-222-4346 Ext "0".
