aaf
Hey there Ram Guy, I´m kind of a noob as far as ram en oc goes but a friend of who isn´t, compiled my new pc and can´t get the ram modules 1066Mhz with the specified mobo. I told him that i´ve read on this forum that he should manually adjust the timingsettings to 5-5-5-15-2t and 2,1V to set it to 1066but he said that he can´t find the options to do that (not that i know what i´m saying here...) As fas as i know i have the latest bios, the modules run @800 and @1000 but with only 1 module it can run @1100 (auto, 667, 800, 1000 & 1100). What to do oh magic ram guy???? Is there no option to set this on a Asus p5kpl-c? what are we doing wrong? Grtz Rob Ps does the dominator fan fit on my mobo?
DerekT
This board does not allow you to make any voltage changes. I don't see how it can support 1066Mhz DRAM since there is no 1066Mhz DRAM that runs at a JEDEC standard and there is no implementation for DRAM voltage. I don't see how you can make 1066MHz on the DRAM with this board. For this motherboard, my advice is to return the 1066MHz DRAM and buy JEDEC 800Mhz DRAM such as TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX. 007bont
or trade in the mobo, as most standard boards are often cheaper then the ram you have :D: never quite got that, why you can use pc8500 ram, but can't adjust the voltage
aaf
I found this on another site: it's a smalle piece of all the information given about the asus p5kpl-c: Memory - 2 x240-pin DIMM, 4 GB, DDR2 1066*/800/667 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory - Dual Channel memory architecture - * Memory O.C 1066: - Due to the chipset limitation, the actual memory running frequency is limited by the system FSB: - 1. When the CPU is running at FSB 800MHz, 1066MHz DDR2 memory runs at 800MHz by default. - 2. When the CPU is running at FSB 1066MHz, 1066MHz DDR2 memory runs at 800MHz by default. You can set the frequency to 1066MHz in BIOS. - 3. When the CPU is running at FSB 1333MHz, 1066MHz DDR2 memory runs at 800MHz by default. You can set the frequency to 1000MHz or 1100MHz in BIOS. As far as i know, this means this board can make my ram run @1066. Is this correct? or do i have to adjust some settings first? Any help would be nice. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 23, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 23, 2008 It will depend on the CPU FSB as with all Intel chipset MB's.
007bont
or do i have to adjust some settings first? Any help would be nice. Rob yes you need an important adjustment and that is toincrease the voltage to the ram. But........ your motherboard does not have this feature. in other words, it will always deliver 1.8 volt, while most often you will need 2.0 to 2.2 volts depending on brand type etc (in your case 2.1 Volts)
aaf
I have my fsb running @ 1333. so that's prob. the reason why i can't get my ram @1066. Is it better to set my fsb to 1066 in stead of 1333 so that i can run my ram @1066 or should i leave it this way (1333Mhz & 1000Mhz). which is faster? Still i cant set my voltage. 007bont
are you able to make a stable system when using 1000mhz on both modules? if not i would suggest to lower the speed to 800mhz and tighter timings (4-4-4-12)
aaf
Yes, it's running stable with fsb @1333Mhz and ram @1000Mhz. I can't set timing or memory voltage manually. Thats one of my problems. But i bought 1066Mhz ram... and i can't seem to set it to 1066Mhz. Should asus make me a bios that can handle manual timing and voltage settings? Or is there a an alternative (with software)? Is it best to leave options like it it now or should i set them both (fsb and ram) @1066Mhz to have a faster rig? Thnx in advance
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 25, 2008 If you cannot set the memory voltage then I am sorry you would not be able to run the modules at DDR1066.
