Hydrogen
Hello, I have a Gigabyte EP45T-DS3R, (2) TW3X4G1600C9DHX and an E8400 Processor installed. The motherboard sees this memory as 8500 speed memory and at best I can get this to run @ 1066 MHz with limited consistency. I was under the impression I would be able to Run this processor (FSB) @ 1333 MHz and "OC" the memory to 1600 MHz on this board. I read in another thread; "This issue is isolated to only motherboards using the P45 chipset. Please note, this type of issue is something that’s often able to be remedied with a BIOS update from the motherboard manufacturer." for the speed issue. I set the cas manually @ 9-9-9-24 and voltage to 1.8V which is the only way I was able to successfully boot the PC at all (1066 MHz) Am I out of luck here? Thanks in advance, Case#682471 I have been issued an RMA but will I be replacing the TW3X4G1600C9DHX with the same or will they be replacing the RAM with something that works? -H
DerekT
I was under the impression I would be able to Run this processor (FSB) @ 1333 MHz and "OC" the memory to 1600 MHz on this board. Clearly you are in error. I don't know where you got that impression from. You need to have a FSB of 400 X 4 to make the 1600Mhz DRAM bus. This is an Intel Specification and is exclusive of the DRAM. This is NOT a BIOS issue. RMA will make no change. Increase the FSB to 400 and the DRAM set to 1600. If you don't want to overclock, then you can lower the multiplier to 7 and the FSB to 400 which is a minimal overclock but will allow you the 1600Mhz DRAM bus. Hydrogen
clear as mud..... I set the FSB at 400 (proc running at 3.8 MHz steadily) I set the ram per Corsair recommendations (9,9,9,24, 1.8V) and at best can get my memory to 1240 before issues make this an unreasonable option. I have tried this on 2 other P45 boards, MSI and ASUS. All show the memory at by default 1066 currently, I am running the MSI P45 Diamond @ 400MHz FSB, E8500 @ 3.8 MHz X9.5 (liquid cooled), the memmory settings at 7-7-7-20, 1.8V and speed @ 1200. This will not work with any of the current recommend settings. If I default everything the RAM runs at.... 1066MHZ The point still remains the same.. I can't run this RAM @ 1333MHz and 1600MHz is out of the question.... And since there hasn't been a usefull reply from Corsair, Hello competitor's products.
