Corvinus
I recently ordered parts for 2 new gaming machines. Among the parts I ordered 2 x 550W Corsair PSU. One of them worked like a charm and is very quiet. The other one had a lot of EM noise coming from one of the coils. I decided to open it to see if I could isolate it better. What I saw inside shocked me bigtime  On the ceramic part that goes over the coil, a normal plastic tape piece had been put in place to keep the broken coil together, which was broken in 3 places! Pictures taken with my mobile illustrates what I saw. It really shocked me that Corsair have been so lazy that they did not bother to replace the coil with a new one during the build of it, and just decided to patch it up with a crappy little tape piece. I had never expected this from Corsair. The shop I ordered from do not open the products, and the warranty label was still intact.
JoeBob
Somebody else manufactures this PSU for Corsair (CWT), but still, it sounds like a sloppy QC somewhere along the line, I'm sure they'll happily replace it for you though. That nothing I've come across myself though, generally I've been pretty happy with the Corsairs I've used when building rigs for myself, friends and colleagues. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 19, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 19, 2008 Corvinas, Let's get it replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.” This is the first that I have seen of this, so at this point it looks like an isolated incident.
