HX1000 and Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P Boot Issue

Hello, I have recently purchased a HX1000 power supply to upgrade from Hiper 580W. I installed all the connectors the same as I had with my Hiper PSU installed. The problem is when I turn on the system all the fans on all my components spin-up but the MB doesn't make a post beep noise and nothing shows on the screen. Also to add I plugged my Hiper PSU back in and I am using it now with no problems. Also on my Gigabyte mobo the ATX socket had a cover over it making it a 4-Pin I have tried it both using half the power cable on the PSU in a 4 pin config and also removing he cap and trying as an 8 pin and it still won't boot.

Thanks in advance.

Jamie.

Right okay so I have diagnosed and fixed the problem. On my motherboard there is a PCI-E 12V molex socket. With my old PSU which is a 580W Hiper Type-R I had a molex cable plugged in powering it and all was well. After looking into it further (good few hours of research) PSU's which are of a certain wattage do not need this plugged in, and therefore will not boot at all. Apparently it is on the board for better stability for Crossfire graphics setups but either the Corsair power supply is either too good it doesn't need it or just a compatibility issue. Nevertheless I won't be using Crossfire and if I did I would update my mobo to the latest PCIe 2.0 standard. So there we have it. The PSU is running fine, everything seems stable and it is only slightly louder than my old power supply which was virtually half the power. Definately a thumbs up from me.

I have the same problem when using the HX1000W with the Intel DX58SO motherboard (see my other post on this forum). It only works when the auxiliary power is not connected. If the auxiliary power is connected, the motherboard won't initialize properly. Auxiliary power works fine with the TX750W, so the problem is specific to the HX1000W.

The explanation offered above doesn't make sense to me. There must be some subtle compatibility issue.
