webtheman
I am in the process of building a new computer system and I want to ensure I put in a big enough power supply. Here are some of the specs... CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9550 CD: LG 20X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER CD2: SONY 16X DVD-ROM HDD: 2 X 320GB MOTHERBOARD: GigaByte GA-EP45T-DS3R VIDEO: ATI Radeon HD 4870X2 2GB DDR5 This is the power supply I want to put in it... 650 Watts Corsair CMPSU-650TX. On the Corsair website (using the "find the right power supply feature"), it recommends a 650W PS. But from what I understand, the ATI Radeon 4870X2 alone draws 500W of power at full load. Does it seem right that a 650W PS will be able to handle these computer specs?? PLEASE HELP:confused:
Yellowbeard
The 4870X2 does not pull 500w. That number is the minimum rating for PSU for an entire system using that GPU. The TX650 is plenty of power.
