2 pairs of TWIN2X4096-8500C5D and Asus Extreme Striker concerns

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I have put 2 pairs of Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) into my system giving me 8GB or RAM.

I know from reading these forums that the RAM will not perform at listed specs when running on the Asus Extreme Striker.

I am a little surprised and concerned by the results I am seeing. Could I get some hand holding and reassurance that there isn't a problem with the RAM.

1. only one pair shows as SLI enabled in the Bios, the second pair doesn't

2. one stick lists as CM2x2048-6400C5DHX ?? (from the non sli pair)

So I have tested in memtest for about 6 hours, no problems. I have been running the system fine, no BSOD or other obvious problems. Games (COD4, Team Fortress, etc) play fine.

I tested the each individual 4GB pair in the system before testing with the full 8GB. When I check in the BIOS the first pair lists as SLI ENABLED. when I tested the second pair it says SLI DISABLED. That doesn't seem right?

When I check the RAM in CPUID. The first three list as CM2x2048-8500C5D but the last stick lists as CM2x2048-6400C5DHX. is that what I should expect to see, I was a little surprised.

I have included Screen shots below.

Cheers for any help/advice you guys can provide

If the system is stable I would not worry about it but it looks like one of the modules has the wrong SPD. And I have no problem replacing that set but with 4 modules DDR800 would be suggested and like I said if its running there is no reason to change them.

But if you want to get the set with the miss programmed SPD then, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
