Clarko Darko
Well after building this new rig everything ran fine and smooth. Much faster than my old rig but I thought I would take the time to inspect that everything was running up to par. I notice my DRAM:FSB ratio is a bit off. From what I read on the internet you want it at 1:1 ration am I correct? Both CPU-Z and Everest read it at 6:5. Does that mean the CPU is causing the bottleneck or the other way around. Please help me adjust this. I have not messed with any settings in BIOS what so ever. I think that is all you need to know. If you need more please just reply. Thank you. Also wanted to add something I just noticed on CPU-Z: DRAM Frequency:400.0MHz FSB:DRAM Ratio: 5:6 CAS# Latency (CL) 5.0 Clocks RAS# to CAS# Delay(tRCD) 5 clocks RAS# Precharge(tRP) 5 clocks Cycle Time(tRAS) 31 blocks <==== Shouldn't that be 18 like the box says:5-5-5-18 @1.8v Bank Cycle Time(tRC) 22 clocks Command Rate(CR) 2T Under SPD tab it shows the following in the Timings Table Frequency--------------270MHz-------400MHz CAS# Latency ---------4.0------------5.0 RAS# to CAS#----------4-------------5 RAS# Precharge---------4-------------5 tRAS------------------13-------------18 tRC-------------------15-------------22 Voltage---------------1.8------------1.8 Since it is dual channel both slot 1 & 3 show the same thing. Here is what everest shows: Chipset Properties Memory Timings 5-5-5-31 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) Command Rate (CR) 2T DIMM1: Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C5DHX 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-13 @ 270 MHz) DIMM2: Corsair XMS2 CM2X2048-6400C5DHX 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-18 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-13 @ 270 MHz) CPU Speed CPU Clock 2000.0 MHz (original: 3166 MHz) <=== it changes to original when CPU is under a load CPU Multiplier 6.0x CPU FSB 333.3 MHz (original: 333 MHz) Memory Bus 400.0 MHz DRAM:FSB Ratio 6:

DerekT
Well after building this new rig everything ran fine and smooth. Please help me adjust this. I have not messed with any settings in BIOS what so ever. Your DRAM is running faster than the CPU. This is especially beneficial with Intel Core2 processors due to the legacy onboard memory controller. You can not run less than a 1:1 ratio with Intel processors. You need to set the timings in your BIOS. Download memtest from ---> Hereand extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk. Enter your BIOS. Load Setup Defaults. Save Setup Defaults. Set to these values: Advanced JumperFree Configuration AI Tuning = Manual System Clocks NB PCI-E Frequency = 100 DRAM Voltage = 1.9v HT Voltage = 1.22v NB Chipset Voltage = 1.40v FSB & Memory Config FSB - Memory Clock Mode = Unlinked FSB - Memory Ratio = Auto FSB (QDR) = 800 Chipset Memory Timing Setting tCL = 5 tRCD = 5 tRP = 5 tRAS = 15 Command Per Clock = 2TRun Memtest for two full passes. Results?
Clarko Darko
well i tested the ram at default settings from the mobo and it past memtest. Then rebooted and set the settings according to your post. Past memtest as well. Started computer up and it booted just fine. But the DRAM:FSB ratio didn't budge. I really want to understand not just know about DRAM:FSB Ratios. I have googled it but i think I would rather hear bout it from here since you all know what my specs are. Thanks for the help. still waiting for a reply from RAM guy. Here are screenshots of both everest and CPU-Z They are both before and after settings change. no change at all. going to go back to default until I get RAM to give an answer. I would still like to thank derekT. RAM Guy if you can also give your professional opinion what I should set my settings at too for my setup. Thank You. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/clarko/Desk1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/clarko/desk2.jpg

DerekT
I really want to understand not just know about DRAM:FSB Ratios.I'm not sure what you want to understand (vs know) about the FSB:DRAM ratios. All is not something I or anyone can "give" you. It is something you need to study to learn. Wanting to know all about something is not a fair question and so I didn't respond. As well, you clearly requested someone else to respond. If you ask specific questions, then I can and will answer them. Otherwise you need to Google and research. Hopefully you can see that what you ask is patently unfair, and unclear due to being nonspecific.

Clarko Darko
I am sorry DerekT. You are right in your response about the Understanding and knowing part. I have kept the timings to the correct value and reverted everything else back. I just wanted to be sure the setup was running at max efficency in the hardware department. Thank you for your time and efforts both RAM guy and DerekT.
