pontus_p
So I got a new computer a year ago. Ever since I started using it, I had bluescreens, once a day tops and sometimes not for a few days. The error message in the bluescreens differed, most notably MEMORY_MANAGEMENT and DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or something like that, but other stuff too. They usually occur when the computer is idle, like with the screen saver on or just doing nothing. Doing power intense stuff like 3d games actually seems to lessen crash frequency. I read some guides and looked into the RAM settings, and changed from "auto" to 5-5-5-12 (as specified for my RAM chips). Still crashes. I changed the voltage from auto to 2.0 (specified: 1.9V). Still crashes, but less frequent. Now I've set it at 6-6-6-18, slowest possible on my MB, and I've had no crash for maybe 64 h total uptime (It's a record!). I've run memtest for about 12 hours on 5-5-5-18 setting but it returned nothing. Now, is there something wrong with my chips since I can't run them on the setting they're made for? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2008 If you are passing memtest at 5-5-5-12 at 2.0 volts then I would not suspect a failing memory module. You may want to double check by testing the modules one at a time, and see if you can get them both to fail or if only one will cause the system to fail. If you get similar results when testing each module individually then there may be some other problem.
