nit
Hi just got my corsair hx620 PSU today and fix it to my desktop 1st it boot up fine but there is sound of knocking nosie of the psu for like 10mins but it stop now. 2nd I did notice the 1 pin missing on the 20-22pins connecter to the MB but I guess that could be normal as it newer to my old psu but the other two psu of 20pins got a wire to it which is white but not on this one. 3rd when I was on the desktop and restart my computer to enter the bios to have a look on the V line and I notice that -5V is not reading right it showning like -61.99V and when I boot up into winxp and download cpuid hwmonitor it saying that -5V is 3.55V. 4th If I turn it off for while then turn it back on is start up for like 1secs then turn off - then it fail to turn it on again but the red led light is still on, on the MB. If I disconnet the PSU for like 5 mins is will boot up again. I'm bit worry about the -5V line and missing wire on 20pins-22pins What should I do? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2008 The missing wire on the 24-pin connector is for the -5 volt rail, this rail is no longer necessary in current PSUs, and the wire is missing by design. How often do you have problems booting up, is it consistent or random?

How often do you have problems booting up, is it consistent or random? It seem to be working at the moment after I reset the BIOS. I guess my computer is a bit old. I know this is a bit strong for my system but my old psu broke and I got this ready for new system in future. Thanks for the help. Could you tell me if I require a 8 pin PCI-E cables - the one which come with is 6 pins pci express connector only. Not a issues for me yet but if I get a new video cards that require 8 pins how can I get them? Thank again
