Shinmen
I just purchased the TWIN3X2048-1333C9 (PC3-10600 1333MHz) pack for a new build. I installed it and all was and is still well with one exception, the ram speeds are not what they are supposed to be. Cpu-z and Everest both report the ram as PC3-8500F 1066MHz. I double checked the package and the label on the ram itself and they both state it is supposed to be TWIN3X2048-1333C9 (PC3-10600 1333MHz). I installed the sticks in slots 1 and 3 initially and then tried slots 2 and 4 to see if the slots were at issue. So my question is, what do I do now? Please help Thanks in advance for any help you might give.
Wired
Please post a picture of CPU-Z. Most likely it's completely normal and all you'll have to do is to set the timings / voltage manually.

Wired
Looks like the SPD chip is incorrect. As per the datasheet, the timings table should show 9-9-9-24 values at ~667MHz. The modules will run at the rated settings, you'd just have to set the speed / timings / voltage manually. You can always RMA the sticks to get ones with the correct SPD, but if they work fine, I wouldn't worry about it.
Shinmen
Thanks for your help Wired. I have read through a lot of these forum posts and it seems RAM GUY is an army of one but with a lot of support from you and numerous others. They should put such knowledge on their payroll. The modules will run at the rated settings, you'd just have to set the speed / timings / voltage manually. You can always RMA the sticks to get ones with the correct SPD, but if they work fine, I wouldn't worry about it. The thing is, they are running at their rated settings for what they are and not what they're labeled ;). Seriously though, I do wanna RMA them and get the Ram I paid for, but do I need RAM GUY to address this prior to requesting an RMA?
Wired
They should put such knowledge on their payroll.Damn skippy :) The thing is, they are running at their rated settings for what they are and not what they're labeled ;). Seriously though, I do wanna RMA them and get the Ram I paid for, but do I need RAM GUY to address this prior to requesting an RMA?Yes, but you can always use the Tech Support Express site to expidite things, but it still needs to be authorized by a Corsair tech during normal business hours. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2008 This actually may be the way they are programmed. Do you see any different results if you look at "Slot #3" in CPUZ? If the SPD is programmed the same way on both modules then I would recommend setting the tested settings manually and then run http://www.memtest.org to make sure you do not get any errors. Here are the settings that should be adjusted manually: Memory Frequency: 1333MHz Memory Voltage: 1.7v TCL: 9 TRCD: 9 TRP: 9 TRAS: 24 If everything is stable it may not be worth replacing the modules for you. They may change the SPD when manufacturing different revisions of the same part for better compatibility with the boards that are out there, so the SPD may not always match the data sheet on our website. At any rate, you have a lifetime warranty on the parts and we can replace them at any time. Juse the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
Shinmen
Sorry for not posting slot 3 info. Yes it is the same as slot 1. I will make the necessary adjustments and run the memtest and report the results. Thanks for your help.
Shinmen
Ok, Ram is running smooth at PC3-10600 1333MHz. No trouble so far and Ram is barely warm to the touch after running at these settings a little over 2 hours. I will continue to monitor and get back to you if anything changes. Thanks again for your help Wired and RAM GUY.
