NeeGo_Ant
I am looking to get VS2GBKIT400C3 2GB Kit DDR400 PC3200 Value Select Memory. I could not find out how much voltage this ram kit use; and my computer only gives 2.5v. So if this kit is 2.6v (just guessing), could I still use it with my computer or will that burn out? Also my computer does not support the dual-channel feature so despite that, I could still use this kit just fine without any trouble correct? Thanks guys. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 5, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 5, 2008 Can you tell me what kind of motherboard/system you have? The default spec for DDR400 is 2.6 volts, if your system supports DDR400, it should be able to run these modules.
Wired
Also, modules will not burn out anything, as they are passive devices. That is to say, they won't draw more power than you've set for them to get int he BIOS. There is no such thing as Dual Channel memory, as this is a property of the memory controller in how it handles memory. This is why you can place memory in different slot configurations on a motherboard and it will register as single or dual channel.

I don't think my computer can take it then; it's eMachines T2542 (I know, an old eMachine, but that's all I really need ). Thanks for the "default spec for DDR400 is 2.6v". That was helpful. =D Also, modules will not burn out anything, as they are passive devices. That is to say, they won't draw more power than you've set for them to get int he BIOS. Thanks RAM GUY and Wired. I didn't expect a quick and informative response like this!
Wired
Corsair Modules Compatible with the eMachines T2542FYI the only part listed is the VS512MB266. However, checking out the notes there, the VS2GBKIT400C3 should work like Ram Guy said. RG, comment on the Compatibility page?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2008 That system may or may not work with DDR400 but I would suggest using the part that is listed. VS512MB266.
