jtbndy
I recently upgraded from 4x1gb 5-5-5-18 XMS2 to the 2x2gb 4-4-4-12 DHX as I mentioned in the title. I popped the sticks in and set the timings and voltage (4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V @ 800 Mhtz) in the BIOS and ran Memtest. I believe the program produced errors on #6 and #8 tests. I then put the timings on auto (which probably reduced it to 5-5-5-18) and put the speed to 667 mhtz (basically what I was running before... had to reduce the speed due to the 4x1gb sticks). Memtest produced no errors though 1 pass.. Initial thoughts? I know I had Legacy USB enabled...I forgot to turn it off before I started Memtest. Tonight, I plan to disable that and re-run both sticks at what they are rated (4-4-4-12 @ 2.1 @ 800 mhtz). If that produces any errors, I plan on testing each stick individually then go from there. I just don't understand why it would produce errors at 4-4-4-12 but not at 5-5-5-18. Leads me to think that it is timing/mobo related rather than bad RAM. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 5, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 5, 2008 With 4 modules DDR667 would be suggested and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts.
