Jabber80
Hi guys, I have a new Dell Vostro 410, which motherboard is based on the Intel G33 Chipset It came preloaded with 2048MB (2x1024) 800MHz PC6400 DDR2 Dual Channel which runs at 1.8v according to the ******** memory advisor and a scan with pc wizard 2008. For reference PC Wizard 2008 reports that the memory is made by samsung. I thought id bump vista (32) upto 4GB and figured the TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX would be a good match as it runs at the same 1.8v voltage (dell bios doesnt allow you to change ram voltages) After I installed the 2 corsair modules in dimms 3 & 4 the system just hangs at the initial Dell bios startup logo. Removing the Corsair modules and everything is back to normal. :sigh!: Can anyone kindly offer me any advice to try and get this to work, is there anything else I can try or could the corsair modules be defective. Any help is greatly appreciated Jabber:biggrin:
Jabber80
One of the corsair modules is faulty, I pulled all of the memory out of the dell and installed one module in dimm 1, it booted fine. I took it out and I tried this with the other module and it wouldnt boot, just hung. Now what do I do, can you guys send me a replacement? I gather this is good stuff but I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones. Jab p.s. its pretty annoying dell dont let you adjust voltages in the bios, means im limtied to be on the look out for tried and tested 1.8v ram. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 5, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 5, 2008 Let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.” Keep in mind though, that we can not guarantee compatibility when mixing and matching modules, and also with four modules in the system, the motherboard may automatically drop the memory frequency to DDR667 due to limitations of the chipset. Wired
Keep in mind only VALUE SELECT modules (http://www.corsairmemory.com/configurator/system_results.aspx?id=66089) are listed as being compatible, not XMS series.
