Dazman
Hi guys, I'm thinking of upgrading to the new Asus M3A79_T deluxe motherboard when is comes with AMD 9950 and I like to know ,if it will be Compatibility with TWIN2X2048-9136C5DF? and also the Twin2X2048-8500C5D can run it? I see not have something about this motherboard in support on your website....will you be runing test on your ram with these new motherboards? Thanks Dazman!:sunglasse
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 5, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 5, 2008 Yes of course when the MB is available to us and we have time available in the testing schedule. But new MB's may take a few months to get on our MB reports. And yes Twin2x2048-8500C5D or Twin2x4096-8500C5DF would both be a good choice. wzinc
Hi, I'm new to the world of high-end computer products; I usually buy bargain-basement stuff. I'm using the 4GB Dominator (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF) with the new ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe MLB and a Phenom 9950 Black. It's very fast, but, according to every system info program I can find (CPU-Z, Everest, etc), the RAM is only running at 800MHz. The board is on default settings, and I've tried the auto 10-15% overclock, no change. The manual states that you can only run one 1066 DIMM per channel with AM2+, so I tried both channel configurations, no change. Is there a motherboard voltage or speed setting I should look into? - Thank you.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 3, 2008 You will have to set the tested settings and frequency manually in the MB BIOS and are you looking in the memory Tab of CPU-Z?
wzinc
http://www.asktheramguy.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=4258&stc=1&d=1223073543 Yes, I am looking at the memory tab; I've attached a screenshot. I did manually set the DRAM timing to 1067 in the BIOS. That's the only setting I changed; everything else says auto. Also, because of the one DIMM per channel warning, I put one in channel A and one in B. If that's a stupid move; I'll put it back. The way I understand DDR RAM, the actual frequency is doubled (535*2=1070MHz, about where I should be). So, I may be ok if that's how it works. I also don't know what I'm talking about. :-) Would I be better off with two 1066 modules or dual-channel 800?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 3, 2008 According to that shot you are running at DDR1070 above spec and if the system is stable I would leave it alone.
dieu
Similar issue, same motherboard. Using memory TWIN2X4096-8500C5D with a frequency of 401.5 Mhz. As being an Intel fellow, I am a bit confused with AMD's "unganged" DC Mode verbiage... Also, the memory is marketed as 5-5-5-15 whereas CPU-Z shows 5-5-5-18. Thus, it appears that my system is running at a frequency of 800 Mhz and not 1066 Mhz.
wzinc
Ok, thanks for the help. Although, I still wonder, would I be better-off with this config or an 800MHz dual-channel config? I understand dual-channel is like a RAM RAID 0.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 3, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 3, 2008 What slots do you have the modules in? you may not have them in the correct slots for D/C! dieu You will need to set the tested settings manually on most MB's please follow the link in my signature for the settings and use them to help you setup your BIOS. dieu
Thank you sir. I will give it another try. Interestingly, I went into the BIOS and changed the memory frequency from 800 to 1066 and my memory changed from unganged dual, to ganged single. Anyway, I will access the link within your signature and report back. BTW, your quick response and patience with us is very much appreciated. dieu What slots do you have the modules in? you may not have them in the correct slots for D/C! dieu You will need to set the tested settings manually on most MB's please follow the link in my signature for the settings and use them to help you setup your BIOS. IRISCH
Hi I pass one evening before finding the right solution... I put one ram in dimmA1 and I set all in the bios, - Go to jumperfree config -Under AI OverClocking choose manual -Go to DDR voltage & put 2.1v -than under ''memory config'' Enabled Dram Ganged memory (it's for your 128bit) - Go back and go inside ''Dram timing config'' (you probably see just 3 option at this time) put manual on ''Memory clock mode'' & set up 1066mhz than set ''enabled'' 2T mode after that the big work is starting... in put are: CAS CL =5 tRCD=5 tRP=
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 9, 2008 You can get the tested settings for the memory from the link in my siganture and do a search for that setting and you will come up with a lots of comments about that setting "Ganged and UnGanged Mode". Mspeed3
I have looked at your sig and the settings you have say it works for certain mobobs only, and mine is not listed (the one this thread is about). I cant find a setting for CPU External Freq or or whatever, and then it says to downclock to 800mhz...is this correct? I bought 1066 mhz ram to downclock to 800? These chips will never boot to the 1066 speeds? i thought thats what EPP was for?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 13, 2009 The settings are not MB specific, you would use them for reference when you setup your MB. And in the test example the CPU has to be over clocked to run the memory at DDR1066 and why it shows the memory set to DDR800. I would make sure that you have the latest version of BIOS then load setup defaults and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the memory frequency to DDR1066 and Disable Legacy USB then test them with http://www.memtest.org. Mspeed3
So the memory could not be set to 1066 by itself on that example? Also, what should all the other memory settings be set to? In the EPP profiles on the RAM, I only see a few of the settings (like Tras, Tcas, etc.) while others are blank..is this why it is not automatically setting the memory to 1066 speeds? If not, then what should I set those to? (the whole list) Also, what does disabling Legact USb have to do with anything?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 13, 2009 So the memory could not be set to 1066 by itself on that example? A: Correct! Also, what should all the other memory settings be set to? In the EPP profiles on the RAM, I only see a few of the settings (like Tras, Tcas, etc.) while others are blank? A: Any setting not listed should be set to BIOS default or Auto, and its why it was suggested to load setup defaults before you start. Is this why it is not automatically setting the memory to 1066 speeds? If not, then what should I set those to? (the whole list) A: There is no "Whole List" just set what was listed and leave the others not listed at Default or AUTO. If you want to know more about these settings I would suggest doing a bit more research like starting with the BIOS optimization Guide from http://www.rojakpot.com and or use http://www.google.com and search for the questions you have. Also, what does disabling Legact USb have to do with anything? A: I would encourage you to do a bit more research, please read the Memtest.org read me file when you down load memtest it explains this and many other common questions or false errors. Mspeed3
OK thanks RAM DUDE! I know I should not be a noob at this level but I just dont tinker enough with this stuff, and now I finally have some good components I am trying to skip the learining process and just ask people. I will do some research and post back. Thanks!

Mspeed3
And as for the ganged and unganged...I read that whole thing and couldnt determine what would be the best setting for that. Ganged or unganged? Auto? Lol
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 13, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 13, 2009 It depends on how you use the system from what I understand, but I have used it both ways and did not notice any difference one way or the other but that link I gave would tend to suggest un-ganged mode for most people. Mspeed3
I went to change my DRAM setttings, and I encountered a "DRAM TIMING MODE" where I had the option to select Auto, DCT0, DCT1, or both. I had to choose anything other than auto to get to change my clock cycles. What are those settings?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 14, 2009 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 14, 2009 That is something the MB maker has developed and its not part of the BIOS specification, I would suggest asking the MB maker to explain these settings.
