Hi All,

I just ordered CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel with the Asus Rampage Extreme mobo (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=2367&l1=3&l2=11&l3=640&l4=0)

The site states: 4 x DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066/800 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

Dual Channel memory architecture

I am hoping this set of memory works with this motherboard can anyone verify this please!

Specmike - I would like to OC. I am going to setup my system this weekend. Or next I got all of my parts today and will get the water cooling system on Monday or if UPS is nice they will deliver it tomorrow. :)
I love that feeling when you are waiting on the stuff for a new build. It's like the anticipation of a first date :D:

  • 2 weeks later...

okay so I installed and have everything working! WOW! amazing...

I played source and unreal tournament 3, will be trying Crysis out soon.

Anywho's - Only problem I am coming across now is:

I have 4 (2 gig each) sticks of TW3X4G1333C9DHX

When I load all four my machine will not boot. the Asus Rampage Extreme has this LCD Poster that gives a DRAM error. I am a complete NOOB at OCing or setting Voltage, etc...

Is there anything I'm missing? I removed one 2 gig chip and all is working I have total of 6 gig's now. It would be great to have 8 gigs.

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR1066 or and set the memory Voltage to 1.7-1.90 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.1-+.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

ahh okay i tried to mess around with OCing the memory but i still cannot get the 8 gigs to show on the Asus Rampage there is a Poster LCD monitor (so to say) that shows the loading components. It keeps getting stuck at DRAM err.

Any advice?

I tried the the suggested advice above. Now the question i had was should i do the changes to all the RAM sticks? before and then put the 4th in ? because when putting in the 4th stick errors out at dram error? I tried it but no luck.

:confused:

Download memtest from--->

and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk.

Download CPU-z from-->

Enter your BIOS. Load Setup Defaults. Save Setup Defaults. Set to these values.

Extreme Tweaker

Set to these values, shut down, insert a single stick in Slot 1 (Closest to the CPU) and run Memtest for two full passes, then (If Stable). Shut down and remove the first stick. Repeat the Memtest with each stick. If all four sticks pass, then insert one stick in slot 1 and the other in slot 3. Repeat the test. Then insert another stick in slot 2 and in slot 4 giving you a stick in all four slots. Repeat memtests. If they pass then enter Windows and post screenshots of CPU-z's CPU, Memory and SPD tabs.

Phew!! after a looooooong time finally got to the suggestions given above....

I was able to find out that one RAM chip in particular does not work minus all the setting that was stated above. When I tried to just load the ram in Slot A1 by it self it is stuck in the DET DRAM in the LCD Poster screen... All other RAMS have passed the TEST Via MEM TEST just fine. I am going to put in a RMA... unless you guy's have any more suggestions on this issue.

I appreciate all your help and I will post more info if i had to do anything else to get my 8 gigs to work properly on my Monster Machine!! :D:

You should have buy TW3X4G1600C9DHX. 1333 modules can be oc blockers.

I was able to sync TW3X4G1600C9DHX on 2000FSB without problems whereas 1333 modules nothing but pain in the ***.

TW3X4G1600C9DHX are unbelievably good.

PS: and Rampage Extreme is similarly moron as Striker II Extreme so 4 modules without downclocking will be highly unlikely as soon as you buy the "low grade" modules. Just let Corsair to make some money on you and buy as best modules as you can.
