lbunome
Have recently purchased a Corsair HX1000 power supply assuming it would work on my ABIT NF7-S v2.0 mobo because it had the 20 pin connector option. All the pin voltages match my older ANTEC power supply except the -5 volt connection. It is missing entirely from the 20 pin connector on the Corsair HX1000. Anyone know if this will work on my motherboard?
Wired
Corsair's site states that it is backwards compatible with ATX12V 2.01, so if your motherboard supports ATX12V 2.01, you should be all set to go.
lbunome
Cosair tech said hook it up, worse thing that could happen is it might shut down but might would work because board was maufactured during transition to newer ATX form factor 2.01. Hooked it up and system appears to run fine. However -5 volt connection is missing on this power supply and it still concerns me. MOBO came with a voltage monitoring program called HDW DOCTOR. All voltages look fine except -5 volt connection which is setting off an alarm. It is showing +3.60v where it should read -5v. Anybody got a clue what the -5 volt connection is used for and whether or not its safe to run the computer like this?
Wired
-5v was removed in the ATX spec somewhere after 2.0 I think. That's why the PSU doesn't have it.
