Swip
Hello, I have a hx1000w that I have received today I believe that well-connected and well everything works perfect but when I turn on any game that put the VGA (ati 4870x2) to work the 3d source makes a sound electricity from the psu, but I believe that the psu is not the problem with the previous psu also passed this problem and replace it for this psu. I dont have another graphic high gamma to try but with the gamma low I do not do this at home and I think it is because, I do not put the system at the maximum, you have any idea that might be? will be problem of VGA? The noise comes from the psu safe but I do not think that it is the problem. PD noise does not pass the speakers

Swip
hello ReaperX thanks for your answer, at least we know that we are not unique, like someone looking in this way a solution faster. I understand you, the noisy is terrible and acute that stands out from all the fans and the music if not moderately high
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 2, 2008 I would first try a different set PCIE cables and see if there is any difference. If you are able to test the video card on a different system or test it with a different PSU then that may be a good idea as well. If all else fails and you would like to see if a replacement will resolve the issues, then we can try replacing the unit for you. Let us know how it goes! Well I tried using different cables on the vga and splitting it to 12V1 and 12V2 but no difference. Before the corsair I used an Enermax Infiniti 720W which was dead silent. Swip
I would first try a different set PCIE cables and see if there is any difference, and different location but in all forms sound showed up, even well as probe with another source of 700W and also sounds the same, you think the problem, may be that the PSU 2 are wrong? It's not something strange?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 3, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 3, 2008 If its happening with 2 different PSUs then you may want to try testing the card in a different system altogether to see if you still have problems. If the problems follow the video card then you may want to get it replaced.

Swip
Hello I have tested with 2 VGA HD 4870x2 and HD 2900 XT sound is there in 2 but also in the 2 PSU with the 2900 sound is the lowest but is also, a year ago I connected the 2900 to a PSU of 550W Corsair ,but also It had not connection to 8 Pinner i connecting 2 of 6 Pinner and operated without making noise, I will try it at source and to 2900, in a while informing
Swip
I have tested the 2900 in connection with the 6 pinned in 2 because it is the only one who supports this operation and also makes noise, the odd corner with the PSU of 550W old does not sound, and the 2 modern makes noisy. There is a post on AMD indicating that not affect operation of the PC. I continue investigation.
JohnnyWong
actually i also worry about the high pitch sound from the 4870x2, but as soon as it working fine without artifact then should consider fine. i hope both hx1000 and 4870x2 work fine forever, i hate RMA... my 2900XT still in RMA.. almost a month. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 5, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 5, 2008 If you are having the same issues with a replacement PSU then I would suspect the video card is causing the issues. Even though the sound may be coming from the PSU, I have seen many people with this issue resolve the problem by replacing the video card. The basic explanation of why this is happening is that the power the card is receiving is slightly different than the power the card is expecting, and there is essentially interference getting back to the PSU and causing the noises. We have no problem replacing the PSU for anyone with this issue, but in our own experience the video card is a more likely cause.
zeerax
I too have the HX1000 and a HIS 4870X2 graphics card. I find that the card is very noise when 3D rendering. I have emailed HIS to find out if this is normal. My friend also has the 4870X2 and his makes noises, but he isn't using a corsair power supply.
