Noisy VX450

Hellu.

I suspect I may have a defective PSU. It works and all that, but it's kinda noisy.

What I did to indeed see that it was the PSU that was noisy and not something else, was to unplug the fan from intake and the VGA (it can run passive, just have a big fan on there for better temps). That left me with two fans still running, both are low-noise Noctuas and Nexus fans running at 7v. I also unplugged the harddrives. Still, it was noisy.

I then stopped both the exhaust and the CPU fan so the only fan running was the one in the PSU, and yeah, it was still noisy.

It's not noisy in a way that it's super loud, but it's well above the rated 22dB (clearly audible from 5m away).

Could this indeed be a defective unit?

How long would it take to get it replaced? I'm only asking cause I'm in the middle of a move, and wonder if it is worth getting replaced before or after I've moved (a week from now). Also, I'm located in Sweden, would this mean that I have to ship it overseas?

Thanks!

If the PSU is loud enough to be bothersome while you are using the system then we can definitely try replacing it for you. It would probably be best for you to wait until you are at your new address before sending it in, but it is up to you. You can contact our customer service at 888-222-4346 and dial "0", (510) 657-8747 or email rmaservice@corsairmemory.com to find out what options are available for the RMA, and once you decide to send it in, you can use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
