JR111
Dear Sirs, The Corsair HX520W is supposed to be very silent and the fan speed supposed to be variable. However, when I turn on the computer with my recently purchased HX520W, the fan starts at a constant speed that is an audibale hiss and constant noise like a low cost PSU from a standard vendor. The fan does not change speed during power on, and when the computer is shut down you can clearly hear the audible hiss from the PSU disappearing like turning off a low-cost Dell computer. The fan on the PSU is definetly not silent. The noise is not clicking nor like a fan running on full speed, but it is definetly well above the 30db reference and very annoying since you experience significant noise relief when it is shut down. I could not find another post linking to this problem. What seems to be the problem, and can it be fixed? Best Regards
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 29, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 29, 2008 If the sound is coming from the fan then I would suggest that you unscrew the 4 fan screws on the bottom of the unit a 1/4 turn. You may also want to plug the unit directly into a wall outlet to make sure you have consistent results. If the noise does not diminish, then we can replace the unit for you. Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
