Pardon if this is asked a lot but I did not find it.

Anyway do you think the HX1000 can do triple SLI with the GTX 280?

I usually fold with them but occaisonally do run games in SLI mode.

RIght now I have two installed but want to add the third.

I just got this power supply yesterday since I saw it was triple SLI certified but nvidia's web site that I found after I got home shows only a few 1200W + PSU's certified for this power supply.

I alos found many reviews that say the HX1000 basically is a 1200W PSU in disguise.

Thanks that is good news. I did not want to return it.

Glad to hear it. I don't think there is another PSU on the market that could power a system that our HX1000 could not (and yes, I'm including the 1200 watt units that are out there ;):)

Well my hopes were dashed when I started taking out the original power supply (Its a Dell XPS 730) which is also a 1000W unit and could run the cards but does not have all the native connectors for Triple SLI which I wanted for the clean look.

Anyway the 730 has an ESA module on board and I also have the H2C chiller which is sort of like a Coolit Eliminator but chills northbridge and CPU.

That ESA module has a 10-pin connector with +3.3v, +5v, 5VSB, a couple 12v etc.

It is not a standard connector so I did not get to install the HX1000, yet.

I'm going to see where I can get all those connectors and if I can route them using the same header from the Dell PSU I'll be in business.

FYI the XPS 730 was supposed to be fully upgradeable. It is if you don't use the H2C or ESA module but well everyone here knows that is not an option.

I know that the XPS 720 had a proprietary PSU, but I am not to familiar with the 730. You may want to contact Dell and ask them if a standard ATX PSU would be recommended for use with this system. As you said, I think the PSU should work, but I am not sure about the ESA functionality.
