alpineflip
I currently have 2GB (1x1) TWIN2X2048-6400 of ram in my pc not oc'd and I recently purchased another matching pair to total 4GB but my pc would not post with all 4 sticks but I remove 1 of the sticks it recognizes the 3rd stick and posts fine and I have tried all possible combos and both sticks will post fine solo or with the other pair (but only 3 can be installed, with all 4 it just sits at a black screen but never does anything). I know the mobo can handle it but not sure if its a mem issue or something in the bios settings I need to adjust or am I better off getting 4GB (2x2)? My current system I dual boot between XP and vista
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 27, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 27, 2008 Using 2 x 2.0 Gig modules would be preferred with any MB rather than using 4 1.0 Gig for sure and with 4 modules DDR667 or DDR800 would be suggested and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts. HairoldCox
I too am having this same problem where if I have all 4 sticks installed I get just a blank screen as if theres nothing hooked up. Smae mobo just different ram. I have CM2X1024-5400C4. I just built this computer maybe a week ago and till last night I had no problems running all 4 sticks then I wound up getting the BSOD a bunch of times and after a lot of uninstall/reinstalling of hardware and software I think I finally determined that the problem was being cause by the ram. I'm currently running only 2 sticks and its working fine. I have the BIOS setting set manually 4-4-4-12-2T and 1.90v. I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit but I was wondering if maybe one of the sticks could be bad or if there is just a problem with being able to run all 4 on my sytem? In either case I will probably be buying new ram.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2008 With 4 modules DDR533 would be suggested and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts.
HairoldCox
I made the changes. Seems to be holding up well. Thanks. For performance and stability would I just be better off running 2 or even 3 gigs rather than all 4 and if so, would I have to adjust the settings again to make up for it? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 8, 2008 Two modules would be best but test them one at a time to make sure one is not failing.
