Flash Voyager not working for ReadyBoost

Hi, I just built a new system for my wife and got her the same Flash Voyager that I use on my PC for ready boost it is the 4GB (CMFUSB2.0-4GB).

I just built her PC yesterday, and the Voyager will not accept readyboost. I can get it to the ReadyBoost screen, and when I click on "Use This Device" and allow Vista to do the "Space to Reserve for System Speed: 3730MB" Default, it just sits there and hangs. I have let it sit there for over 2 hours once waiting to see if it would just take a few to get it loaded, but no it does not work, the little O thing just keeps spinning around and around and then it says Not Responding. I do not have my drive handy it is at work on my main PC there or I would try mine. If someone could help it would be appreciated.

Also, it would not let me a few times here Format the USB Drive either I had to toss it on my Laptop or reboot the main box. Here below is the PC stats on her box.

She uses:

Board: XFX 8200

CPU: Phenom 9850 X4

RAM: Corsair XMS-2 (8GB)

Vid: XFX 9800 GX2

HDD: 2-WD 500GB in Raid-0 (For OS Drives)

HDD2: 1-WD 1TB Backup and Data Drives

DVD: 1-Sony Blu-Ray DVD/HD/Blu-Ray/RW SATA drive

PSU: Antec 850w

Case: Aero Cool M40 SFF Chassis

*EDIT* Forgot to add she uses Vista Ultimate X64

Thanks for looking and taking the time to respond.

Well, they flat out refused to replace it, or even refund it. I had the package and the recipt with me. They said because it was a "Memory Device" I had to take it up with Corsair. I do not mind doing that at all really at least I get honest and correct answers and great help here.

The problem is still present when I try to formmat the drive, Vista all ways says it needs to be scaned ect. but when I try, or even try to do a format on it it will not do it, but if I toss it on my Laptop that runs XP Pro, no problems at all formatting or even read/writing to the device. I even went as far this morning of low level formatting the OS drive in my wifes new comp to be sure it was not a faulty install causeing it.

Any an all help is greatly appreciated.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi RamGuy, wanted to let you know that I got my drive replaced by CompUSA, it took me a "LONG TIME" to get it but did after ripping the district managers tail for about 2weeks and going strait to corporate with it (Corporate meaning TigerDirect) just wanted to let ya know, and say thanks for all the help. The new drive works great, and it even works for ReadyBoost like my other one.
