Hi All,

I've got new system. up till now, my system is not stable at all, first time i turn the system ON, it always restart of minimum 3 times and then it boots to Windows normally, sometimes it also restarting or HANGS with no reason

here's my thread

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1037468&p

my question is, is there any DDR2 RAM setting for my X48-DQ6 that i have to set as I know that this type of memory must be set with the correct Voltage.

I've tried to Load optimized default for the BIOS to no avail.

please help in this matter.

thanks.

load setup defaults and set the dram speed to 800

manually input timings

CAS Latency Time________________ 5

Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 5

Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______5

Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 15

dram voltage has to be set to 2.1volts wich is +0.3 at gigabyte??

(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [Normal] set this to +0.5volts

and turn this:

Performance Enhance = [standard]

off

test this setup with memtest.

(if this setup fails make sure you test each module at a time, using different memory slots)

OK,

now i get it, so by default all Motherboard uses 1.8 v

while new hi spec. RAM as of mine should be using 2.1 V as minimum.

I'll run these setting below:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. enter the bios, (press delete key as it is booting)

When the bios comes up the first thing to do is press ctrl+f1.

That will enable advanced bios features for Gigabyte Board.

for Gigabyte X48 (from memory) there should be "DDR2 Overvoltage control" setting .

change to +.3 v because 1.8V is standard so i shall add .3 to make it 2.1V

Also on the same page change "memory timings" (or similar) so I can see: (Set memory manually)

5

5

5

15

etc

etc

etc

Change to first 4 to 5-5-5-15 (it will maybe be on 5-7-7-21 by default)

Change row refresh to 56

Make sure static tread is no less than 7

save and exit.

"MCH overvoltage Control" +.25

------------------------------------------------------------------------

would that be OK to the PC component ?

I'm afraid of broke down the memory or any other component.

well,

i did the setting above to change the SPD and GMCH voltage to +0.25 as per your suggestion,

but the problem is that today it failed to POST and rebooted 3 times ?

and i did ran memtest 3.4a

see the result in the attachment.

errors millions of error in bank0 ?

With four DRAM slots populated, it is advised to drop the bandwidth from 1066 to 800Mhz.

Please research this thread:

http://www.houseofhelp.com/v3/showthread.php?t=64360&highlight=Unpredictable+results+QUAD2X4096+Gigabyte+X38-DS5

Use Memtest86+ version 2.01 from http://www.memtest.org

Derek,

how to downgrade the RAM frequency in Gigabyte X48-DQ6 ?

cheers,

how to downgrade the RAM frequency in Gigabyte X48-DQ6 ?

Excuse my lateness in response. I missed the post.

Download Memtest86+ V2.01 from--->

Download CPU-z from
.

Enter your BIOS. On the main BIOS screen press Ctrl + F1. You will see the screen flicker. Next select the MB Intelligent Tweaker option. On that screen you will see many additional settings that were not there before.

Enter these values:

MIB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T.)
CPU Clock Ratio = 8
CPU Host Clock Control = Manual
CPU Host Frequency = 333Mhz
PCI Express Frequency = 100Mhz
C.I.A.2 = Disabled
Performance Enhance = Auto/Normal
System Memory Multiplier = 2.4
DRAM Timing Selectable = Manual
CAS Latency Time = 5
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5
RAS# Precharge = 5
Precharge Delay (tRAS) = 15
ACT to ACT delay = Auto
Bank Write To READ Delay = Auto
Refresh to ACT Delay = 0
Read to Precharge Delay = Auto
Memory Performance Enhance = Normal
Dimm OverVoltage Control = +.3V
PCI-e OverVoltage Control = Normal
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control = +.2
CPU Voltage Control = Auto
Robust Graphics Booster = Auto

Run Memtest for two full passes, then (If Stable), enter Windows and post screenshots of CPU-z's CPU, Memory and SPD tabs.
