onuremus
HI, I have previuosly installed TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX 2GB kit on my computer. No I am trying to add TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX 4 gb kit. I should get 6GB of memory all together, but I get 5GB. So i tried various variants and I always get 1GB less when using 4GB kit. In order to minimaze different number of variants I took out the old 2x1024 and tried only new sticks. - Each of the 2gb on at the time, works perfectly - when I use both together, 3gb is maximum I get, no mather the slots I use. Maybe you have any suggestions?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 22, 2008 What are you looking at to see the amount of available memory? If its in windows that will be correct? You might use http://www.memtest.org and see how much is showing there.
onuremus
Previously I took the info from BIOS. Today i run a memtest and it shows the same - 3007 MB width 4GB of memorysticks. I have ASUS P5B motherboard, I cheked it should be 100% compatible with these sticks. I have placed them correctly in 1 and 3 (yellow) slot. Ofcourse I tried with the other slots aswell. p.S I changed sticks at the store, so I have new-ones and they show the same result :) So probably it is mobo-s fault? Can I check it somehow? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 2, 2008 There might be a setting in the BIOS to remap the memory but if you are using a 32-Bit O.S. it may show or remap automaticly.
