gjb1124
I have an ABIT IX38QuadGT mobo and I'm running Vista Ultimate 64Bit. According CPU-Z memory is running at 399-400Mhz at max bandwidth of PC2-6400 (400Mhz). Shouldn't it be 533? I manually set timings of 5-5-5-15 2t at 2.1v. All other settings auto for RAM. Did I miss something? Thanks in advance. Ok read another post about loading defaults the changing timings. Load defaults then changed settings (did not reboot in between). THEN: Save and exit. Memory testing....2,0xx,xxx OK self restarts. Memory testing....2,0xx,xxx OK self restarts. Memory testing....2,0xx,xxx OK, I press ESC to skip, restarts. Have to Ctrl-Alt-Del, restarts. Memory testing....2,0xx,xxx OK self restarts. I let it do this 4 times. Then enter setup (pressed Del) load optimized settings. RAM ettings all Auto. Whichare: 5, 5, 5, 18, 2T. Boots into safe mode selection screen. I choose normal boot. CPU-Z shows memory is running at 408Mhz at max bandwidth of PC2-6400 (400Mhz). The other post also talks about lowering RAM speed to 800 how do I do that? More importanly why would I want that? Shouldn't I have just kept my TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX? As you can tell I am noob at this stuff but I thought since DDR2 800 runs at 400 and DDR2 1066 runs at 533 (suppossedly). Why would I want to "slow" it (1066) down to 800 when I just spent more cash to get 1066?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 22, 2008 Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and how many modules you have installed and the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
gjb1124
Sorry for taking so long been busy with work. Part # CM2x2048-8500C5D. 2 sticks of RAM. Proc info: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Conroe 3.0GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor. 1333Mhz FSB. I originally had the default bios settings. Then changed the timings to 5-5-5-15- @2.1v. This is when I ran into problems. I then followed your suggestion to loads defaults then change timings again. Again problems listed in above post. So between my post and your reply, I then changed the speed of the ram in the bios to 510. This was the closest to to 533 as I could get without changing anything else to do with O/Cing my CPU. All other settings are the defaults. Thanks in advance for all your help.
