dogie
Hi i have 4x1024 memory sticks. I had a lot of reboots and bluescrens so I did a memtest. I took out all of them and tested 1 memory in every slot and i tryed all 4 of them, and 1 of the memory failed in all slots. Do you have any advice what to do next ? On the memory it is printed XMS2-8500 1024MB byt on the packed it says TWIN2X2048-8500C5D G
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 22, 2008 With 4 modules DDR667 or DDR800 would be suggested and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts. But first please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. And if you do have a failing module you will want to get that set replaced. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 22, 2008 Just the two that came in the same package. If you have 2x 1GB modules, then the part number for the kit is TWIN2X2048-8500C5D, If you have 2x 2GB modules, then the part number would be TWIN2X4096-8500C5D. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 16, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 16, 2008 Make sure you have the latest BIOS for the board, load setup defaults in the BIOS and then set the following settings manually in the BIOS: Memory Frequency: 800MHz Memory Voltage: 2.1v TCL: 5 TRCD: 5 TRP: 5 TRAS: 15 Command Per Clock: 2T Test with http://www.memtest.org and let us know your results! dogie
I have done what you wrote and the computer is running now, and no crach so far. But I will lose some performance because i can´t run the memory at 1066 ? And both of the pair is speced to run att 1066
Wired
Right, each PAIR is spec'd / tested / guaranteed @ 1066, but they didn't test BOTH pairs together in that fashion, so they can't guarantee that. Also, most memory controllers can't handle 4 sticks @ full speed.
dogie
My other par that i had to rma, befor they broken down i had no problem runing all four at 1066. But the old pair i spec'd to 2.2v and are only getting 2.1 i can think that is a problem. Can i set the volt on each slot ? (I have not seen this myself) Will i burn the new memory of i run them in 2.2v ?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 16, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 16, 2008 With 4 modules DDR800 would be suggested and I am sorry but we can only guarantee the tested speed with 4 up when running our quad kits.
dogie
OK but will the new pair work whith 2.2v or is it meaningless to try. (Will the burn up ?) The cooling in my computer is fairly good

The cooling in my computer is fairly good I would set the memory voltage to 2.1v and then test the configuration with http://www.memtest.org. If you do not get any errors then leave it that way. If you do get errors then I would try bumping the memory voltage to 2.2v.
