dalgo64
If I have a MB Gigabyte GA EP45 DS3R with a FSB of 1600 and being DDR2 1333+ rated, what is the optimum Ram to use, ie DDR2 800 or DDR2 600? Going higher would provide no gains whatsoever, correct? Processor Intel E8500 EO Core 2 Duo
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 22, 2008 I would suggest Twin2x4096-8500C5DF with that MB.
dalgo64
Isn't that going to be overkill as my mb will work best with 800 max? I mean since Core 2 Duo 1600 fsb is really 400 mhz max (divide by 4) and DDR2 800mhz divided by 2 = 400 is the max, right?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 25, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 25, 2008 That chipset will run DDR1066 memory and what I would suggest for best performance, but it will DDR800 memory with no problems as all.
