pablorodano
Hello guys, I have problems with my new Dominator TWIN2X4096-8500C5D modules when I try to configure it at 1066. First, before the memory change, the BIOS was updated to the latest version and restarted to the default settings. Then, I have installed the new pair of modules and restarted the BIOS settings again. Later I have entered the configuration specified with this memory (1066MHz, 2T, C 5.5.5.15 and 2.1v), revised and correctly configured in the setup. But with the memory original configuration the system goes unstable, doesn't starts and shows a lot of memory errors testing with Memtest. However, with a 800MHz, 2T, C 4.4.4.12 that memory works fine... but I have bought a 1066MHz modules, right? Can anybody help me? Thank you! Regards, Pablo. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 21, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.3 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
pablorodano
Hello Ram Guy. Thank you for your answers, but that can't help me to solve that issue. Like I said in the first post, the latest BIOS is installed propertly in the MoBo and all the defaults settings was loaded, and then replaced for the correctly frequency, timmings and voltage specified in the SPD's Enhanced Performance Profiles. I know that the DDR2 is designed to work with 800MHz frequency, but my motherboard is ready to run with 533-1200MHz, 1066MHz included. Also, that configuration must be entered manually, and I have do it. The system has not overclocked yet, I have set in default the parameters of the BIOS configuration and only changed the memory settings manually. With the two modules tested with memtest (if the system can start) I got a lot of memory errors, but when I test the modules in single channel and the same configuration the systems works fine... This means that the modules are ok, because only fails in dual channel. I gonna take some photos of my BIOS configuration to post it here, and then, maybe you see anything wrong, or some changes to try. Regards, Pablo. pablorodano
Well, along this weekend I have tested memory to get the max possible stable frequency on my system... and this value is DDR2-960 (480MHz) C5.5.5.15 2T and voltage set in Auto (1.8v, I think...). :sigh!: Also I have installed a pair of CSX Diablo 2x1024 DDR2-1200MHz that works execelent... 007bont
set cpu ratio to 9 disable dram static read control set ai twister and transaction booster to off! cpu and pcie spread spectrum can both be set to off. keep the rest as they are now in your picture retest it using memtest (disable usb legacy) and post your results good luck. pablorodano
Hello 007bont. I have done everything that you said to me... and unfortunately this changes doesn't work, if I try to set the frequency to 1066 the system don't starts and do not send signal to the monitor, then I can't test this speeds with memtest. Have you another idea about how I can run at 1066 with this modules? This is my third kit of Corsair modules, and the second with this type of problems. I'm thinking that maybe I need to change to another non-corsair modules... I am very disappointed. Anyway, I hope that maybe somebody can give me a solution. Regards, Pablo. 007bont
have you tried putting in one module in at a time?

007bont
i assume when you tried just one, you've set the speed to 1066?? p.s you could try upping your northbridge voltage to 1.4 or 1.5volts. and play with different cpu mutilpliers: for example use a multiplier of 6 and a fsb of 400 and set the fsb strap to northbridge to 400mhz if that doesnt work i would suggest using RG's answer: If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them
pablorodano
i assume when you tried just one, you've set the speed to 1066?? Yes, the single modules has been tested with the same configuration like dual channel mode: DDR2-1066 C5.5.5.15 and 2.1v p.s you could try upping your northbridge voltage to 1.4 or 1.5volts. and play with different cpu mutilpliers: for example use a multiplier of 6 and a fsb of 400 and set the fsb strap to northbridge to 400mhz I have established and proved with a range of +0.02 the values between 1.41v and 1.51v, both included and it doesn't works. Later I have changed the multiplier at 6x400, 9x333 and 8x400, with fsb strap too... if that doesnt work i would suggest using RG's answer: I think that maybe is not physical error, at least not because a broken module. In this forum have a lot of people that have the same or similar products with those problems, and I think they must be a bad work by Corsair... However, I have to thank you for your work, I appreciate very much your dedication. ;): Best regards, Pablo.
