Valgrim
Hello, I just recently built a new computer, on the first boot up it booted and the motherboard posted with an error message, so I turned it back of while I looked up the post code. I then went to turn it back on and the lights on the motherboard came on and the fans, and then everything went out. I detached everything from the computer except for the cpu and fan and still the same thing happened. I tried an old power supply and the board came on and stayed on till I powered it off. But if I hook the new powersupply to a tester the fan comes on and the lights on the tester light up.. So im not sure whats wrong at this point. any assistance would be great, thanks
Egregious
I am having the same problem with my TX 750.:(: Everything is exactly the same down to shorting the 24pin connector and the test fan:confused:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 21, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 21, 2008 If a different PSU is working then there are 2 likely possibilities. One is that the PSU is tripping the "Over Current Protection" or "Over Voltage Protection" due to an out of spec signal from the motherboard. The second possibility is that there may be a bad component in the PSU. Before having the PSU replaced, if possible, you may want to test it in a different system. If it gives you the same issues, we would definitely want to have it replaced, however if there are no problems in another system, you may want to RMA the board. If you determine that a replacement is necessary, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Valgrim
I actually just checked it in another machine and it didnt work on that machine either which I know that works, once I plugged everything back in I double checked and it booted up.. So I guess I need to return this power supply, which kinda sucks cuz its brand new and now going to have to wait for even more shipping.. Anyways thanks for the help. It's possible you have an entirely different issue since you hardware is not likely identical.
Egregious
Okay I've updated my components into the system specs deal. I couldn't get my PSU to work in my old rig either. :(:
Egregious
So I tried the 3-4 pin test hooked up to a fan... the fan would barely spin and die quickly. I accidently did a 2-4 pin test which allowed the fan to kick up to its normal speed and stay running. Does this sound like my PSU is bad?
