ssilsbe
Hello I have an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe board updated to latest BIOS and all latest drivers etc. I am running 2 x 2GB dual channel kits bought about the same time, so 4 x 1GB DIMMs. The memory model is CM2X1024-6400C4, timing is 4-4-4-12. I have been getting frequent crashes on my system even after fresh installs of Windows XP. BSODs and random crashes probably happen once a week. I tested the RAM with memtest86 and it checks out, but just out of curiosity I popped out 1 of the dual channel kits and I haven't had a crash for a month now. I'm just wondering if my motherboard and RAM are not compatible to have 2 dual channel kits like this or if there are some settings or something i could change. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 18, 2008 With 4 modules DDR667 would be suggested and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts.
ssilsbe
So in the BIOS knock it down to DDR667 and alter the voltages? Should I adjust the timing? What if I only run 1 of the kits, any specific settings for that? Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 19, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 19, 2008 You can set the tested settings of the modules Cas 4-4-4-12 at 2T C/R at 2.1 Volts
ssilsbe
I wasn't able to find any settings that looked like "NB/MCH/SPP". Where in this BIOS would they be and would they be called anything different? The manual doesn't really mention anything similar. I want to be running the 4GB because I definitely notice the difference. Right now I have 4 DIMMS at DDR667, DDR voltage to 2.1V and the timing I have left at 5-5-5-12 at 2T. These are the only changes I have made. Is this recommended? I should mention I don't really know what all these settings do, just how to change them if pointed in the right direction. I'm not trying to overclock or squeeze any extra performance out of my PC. I just want it to run stable with 4GB of RAM (even though I know I only get 3.5GB out of it with my 512MB video card). Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 9, 2008 Might be called NB Voltage or NB SPP Voltage and set it to 1.45 Volts with 4 modules drop the memory frequency to DDR667.
