Deano478
At first I thought it was a case fan needing some grease, but after switching parts on and off, it appears my HX1000 is squeaking. Sometimes it stops, othertimes it returns. When it is going it'll squeak similar to a dial-tone on a phone. Sometimes peaking quite loud for a moment then returning to a more regular squeak pattern. It's a very consistent sound. Sounds a bit like a mouse squeak or a bird squeak. It's quite loud (can hear it over the 8 case fans of my Antec Twelve Hundred at high setting). I'm guessing this is an RMA issue? I hope not... I just had 2 sticks of RAM turn out to be incompatible with an older batch of the same model, a 6800 GTX died on me and so did a recent 8800GTX which took 10 weeks to replace... I can't take any more RMAs... :(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 15, 2008 If you stop the fan in the PSU (use something non conductive) does the squeaking continue?
Deano478
If you stop the fan in the PSU (use something non conductive) does the squeaking continue? I stopped the fan briefly (usually as soon as I heard the sound) and it appeared to stop. I didn't stop the fan for more than a few seconds as I have no idea how long the PSU will go without the fan running. The noise seems to come and ago. sometimes it's very quiet (can't hear it till I put my head against the case) other times it's very loud. But the sound itself is consistent. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 18, 2008 If stopping the fan seemed to have an effect on the noise, then I would suggest that you try loosening the 4 fan screws on the bottom of the unit about a 1/4 turn and see if the noise comes back. If the noise persists, and is loud enough to be bothersome then we can try replacing the unit for you. You can use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.”
