Wilhelm
Hi All, short story: System runs fine without problems, but was loud. One week ago changed HD3870 to passiv and added two 120mm fans. Temps are around 40°C, all runs fine but my "Deluxe 420W" PSU fan is now the loudest. Read the good reviews of the VX450 and get it. The troubles begin - PC shuts down after 3 - 15 seconds - have I crashed anything at the change? - old PSU in, all runs fine - go to retailer, he tested the VX and said it is ok, he means I have forgotten the 4pin connector... - ok, VX in, same reboots as befor - googled for this problem, make the PSU test (running ok), cleared the cmos and now it doesn't boot anymore, only the fans start, but no display or anything, but hey, it doesn't shut down:biggrin: - old PSU in, all runs fine again. Make a Bios update, no change, no boot. Is the VX incompatible with the Asus board? is the -5V not required? old PSU have it. Is there anything I can do more? I'm close to learn the VX flying out the window:[pouts: regards, Wilhelm
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 15, 2008 There are likely 2 possibilities. One is that the PSU is tripping the "Over Current Protection" or "Over Voltage Protection" due to an out of spec signal from the motherboard. The second possibility is that there may be a bad component in the PSU. Before having the PSU replaced, if possible, you may want to test it in a known working system. If it gives you the same issues, we would definitely want to have it replaced, however if there are no problems in another system, you may want to RMA the board. Wilhelm
In the meantime I have done this test. I have a 3dfx-pc with a XP3200 and a Voodoo5, also two HD's. The VX is working normal. also I put the Enermax with 360W in the Asus PC and it is booting up normal to windows. Worked an hour without any problem. That's an odd thing. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 15, 2008 If the VX450 is working fine in a different system, then your problem may lie with the motherboard.
Wilhelm
Problem solved - the retailer changed me the psu to an enermax 425W, put it in, working fine. Did a 3 hour stresstest, no problem. Seems to be an incompatiblity between my A8n32 sli and the VX or what ever... regards, Wilhelm
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 18, 2008 I know that I have seen people using our VX450 on that board successfully, so I am hesitant to believe its a compatibility issue, but I am glad to hear the system is up and running.
