Hey everybody,

I have just bought some new ram. Corsair 2*2048 mb, Pc6400, 800 mhz C5 5-5-5-18

I had 2*1024 mb, Pc6400, 800 mhz C4, 4-4-4-12 in the computer.

They worked together for about 10 min. and then freezed, and ever since i can't get further than to to windows loading image.

I tried one of the guides described in her changing the bios settings, im not sure i did it the right way. Some one have a guide to clean out this mess ?

The old ram (Corsair 2*1024 mb, Pc6400, 800 mhz C4, 4-4-4-12) are in the black ports, and The new ram (Corsair 2*2048 mb, Pc6400, 800 mhz C5 5-5-5-18) are in the yellow ports.

With 4 modules DDR667 would be suggested and set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts. And leave the Memory timings at Auto. Also You'll need to install MS patch 929777 from Microsoft for more than 3 GIG in Win Vista. Or SP1 installed, You can search for it at http://www.microsoft.com.

Just go to BIOS setup and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts in Jumper Free and set NB/NB SPP Voltage to 1.45 Volts and the Memory Frequency to DDR667 in Jumper Free or in Advanced Chipset.

I can change the memory voltage to 2.013v, cant see NB/NB SPP Voltage, there is NB Core Voltage, Vcore offset voltage and Vcore voltage.

The memory Frequency, is that under FSB & Memory Config? I can set it to Auto, Linked or Unlinked, to change (Fsb (QDR), Mhz = 1066.7 or Mem (DDR), mhz = 800.0)

Just want to be sure that it is the right things we're talking about ?

Please use http://www.memtest.org so you do not corrupt your install of Windows!

And with just one of the new modules I would try and clear the BIOS with the CLRTC jumper on the MB and then turn it on and load setup defaults in the BIOS and set the tested settings and Voltage for the modules you have and then test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org.
