SCUMBAG
I've been having a lot of crashes and strange problems lately. Originally i thought maybe a hard or the OS install intself were the cause. I ran memtest, and one of my sticks of RAM failed at practically everything from every slot. the other one passed with flying colors. I'm going to test a bit more, but i'm 99% certain one of the pair is bad. It's TWIN2x2024-8500C5D v1.2. If i request an RMA should I expect to recieve a stick with V. 2.x? if so, should i return both sitcks?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 13, 2008 They would need to be replaced as a set. Please make sure that you have the latest bios and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to be sure one is not failing. If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. .
SCUMBAG
yES, thank you for the tips, everything is up to date. I ran memtest again just to be absolutely positive, it fails terribley no matter what the bios settings are. Also, on Post the cpu is reported to be 1.87 G. I was reading earlier about volt issues with this motherboard (specifically ver. 1.x) and there are a lot of people having the same issues. Seems these aren't the most stable boards. So anyway, I'm going to have to RMA as I'm 100% sure the RAM is bad, although i'm not sure when I will be able to. The problem being replacement RAM. So how long is an RMA good for? I'm not sure when I will be able to more RAM. thnks for the help another note. The newer revision of this RAM with the slightly lower volt may be beneficial. Lastly, from reading ealier, people are having lots of OC problems with this mobo regardless of the revision.

SCUMBAG
Thank you. I think the problem mey have been the latest bios revision. with that revision the ram volt timings were all over the place in the bios without me changing anything. I flashed to the prior revision, and it's fine. I didn't do a lot of overclocking this time, when i get ready to send in the set i'm going to do a bit more to see if this bios really is more stable. thanks again for the help

SCUMBAG
I have CM2X1024-8500C5D. i have posted several times, and am ready to exchange the ram. My problem is, I have to cover the cost of replacement ram since my revision is 2.1 volts. I understand you can't give away ram, but at that same time it is not fair for me to pay for more ram since both sticks need replacing. It's possible I could cover the cost for new ram, until I send back mine. But I can't cover this for very long, and I don't trust the turnaround time yet. I do not want to purchase more ram for this board, I would rather replace it and get ram better suited for the replacement. Can you tell me how much it would cost to cover the cost of new ram until i send mine in? Also, how long will it take to be reimbursed after your company recieves my ram? thank you for your time. Just realized how much the price dropped since I last bought any ddr2, so i'm good, i'll be sending in the ram this week, i'll do the rma form prior to return
