PinkFloyd08
Ram being used: XMS2 DHX DDR2 2gb sticks I'm currently trying to get 8 gigs of ram (4x2gb) to run. Right now I can get 6gb and under to run fine... when I try to put the final stick in to get 8gb. my system does not boot. the keyboard/mouse do not light up, and nothing shows up on the monitor (it acts as if it is sleep mode) I tried just booting off of that one stick (the one that make it hit 8gb) when I do that one stick by itself the system does the same thing, so im guessing there's something wrong with that stick? For some reason, I had 8gb working before without a problem. I went to transfer some files to an external HDD and walked away for while, i then came back to my computer to see I had a black screen, and could not boot without taking the 2gb of ram out. I ordered these two sets of RAM from Newegg. If it comes that I have to return it... do I just take the bad module and one of the other (good)ones and put them back in the package... or are the pairs linked together somehow? Reason I'm asking is I don't know what two go together.
PinkFloyd08
I did a Memtest86 on the suspected bad stick, and it came out to have an error. I have 2 more sticks to test.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 11, 2008 Can you tell me the exact part number of the modules you have? The part number for the individual modules will start with "CM".

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 11, 2008 Make sure you have the memory voltage set manually to 2.1 volts and if the other modules are passing and you still have a failing module, then we will want to get it replaced along with its matched pair. You can match up the lot code to see which ones were paired originally. (lot code should start with "07 or 08")
PinkFloyd08
all 4 sticks I have have the same numbers on them and everything.. the number on the chips (under the bar code farthest to the right) are all 08280537 And yes I set voltages to 2.1v and I had to manually set to 4-4-4-
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 12, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 12, 2008 Let's get the pair replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. Be sure to check the box that says “I've already spoken to Technical Support and/or RAM Guy.” If they all have the same lot code, then it shouldn't matter which one you send back in with the failing module.
