tnt
I just purchased a vx450 to replace a dead Antec Neopower 480 (dies 5 months after warranty expired). I purchased the Corsair based on my good experience with the HX520 in my system. To the question: Prior to installing it I noticed by looking thru the fan grill and the honeycomb on the back it appears as if about 1/4th of the fan is blocked by a piece of plastic. My concern is this 'normal' and will it have any effect on cooling the PSU, specifically the blocked components and it seems it could cause noise issues due to increased turbulence although so far it seems quiet? Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 11, 2008 The plastic is there to help guide the air through the PSU, if it were causing noise due to interference with the fan, then we would want to replace the unit for you. tnt
Thanks for the prompt reply. No noise issue. I was mostly concerned if the VX450 was designed with that piece of plastic. You answered the question. System seems to be running fine with the new PSU.
