Random Restarts.

Recommended Posts

Hopefully someone can help me. For the past few months, my computer has been miserable. It randomly restarts itself and gives many blue screen errors. Some of the STOP errors include, 0x0000000E “KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED” , 0x0000000A "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", 0x00000001, and even more recent 0x00000005 “PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA “ including the file win32k.sys. These errors do not seem to occur under any specific circumstance but I have noticed a trend under more memory intensive programs ie... Photoshop 7 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. I have spoken with Microsoft on many occassions and they have no clue as to what the problem may be outside of perhaps a hardware issue. The tech at Microsoft suggested that perhaps my memory was bad. The memory was purchased 3/18/2003 and has worked up until 5 or 6 months ago. I downloaded memtest86 and after 9 passes, no errors. All drivers are current, and system has never been overclocked . Current System settings are : Soyo KT400A Ultra Paltinum board with AMD Athlon XP 2200+ Flashed BIOS under most recent Update v2.74 1x512MB Corsair CMX512-2700C2 DDR333 XMS2702v1.3 0310395 in DIMM slot 2, Windows XP Professional (SP1) Radeon 8500LE 128MB Video Card DDR(2.5V) Voltage select=2.5V, DRAM Clock 133MHz, DRAM CAS Latency= 2.5, Bank Interleave=Disabled, Precharge to Active(Trp)=3T, Active to Precharge(Tras)=7T, Active to CMD(Trcd)=3T, DRAM Burst Length=4, DRAM Command Rate=2T Command, DRAM Access Time=3T, DRAM Queue Depth=4 level, DRAM tWTR=3T, Write Recovery Time=3T It seems to me that the memory doesn’t have a problem but perhaps there may be some minor tweaks we can do to the BIOS Settings? Any ideas or configuration changes you would suggest?
