Valence
I just built this machine and i new id have to find its sweet spot so im looking for some expert advice. First thing i noticed on first boot within my bios was this ram downclocked itself to 1333, and timings are 8 8 9 22. So i matched my frontside to 1333 and the timings actually dropped slightly and i noticed a great performance increase. So im expecting to be able to get my frontside up to 1600 which this proc is shown capable of and my motherboard, and which the ram is rated for anyway. Thing is, it wont post if i clock past 1366. Now my case temps are nice n cool, everythings under 50c on idle and the hottest thing is my card under load at 65c. 1400 linked and sycned will post but not stay stable, ram timings at that point go to 9 10 10 26 and wont post if i change them. Ive played with voltages within safe limits and i just cant get no satisfaction. :[pouts:
DerekT
You need to run a 400Mhz FSB to gain 1600Mhz on the DRAM at a 1:1 ratio. I would drop the multiplier on the Q6600 to 8 and raise the FSB to 400Mhz giving you 3.2Ghz and then you can Memtest. Download memtest from Here and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk.
