Hi there folks, I got a machine I used to game on but it's gotten very unstable after some upgrades etc, my first reaction was checking for cooling problems, nothing there, I fiddled with all aspects of the machine over the course of months, I don't game a lot anymore and it was only during gaming the system hard rebooted, no errors, no slowdown, nothing, the screen just turns black and the system reboots.

I finally started investigating the ram today, a part of the machine I've taken for grated since I bought 2 "CM2X1024-6400C4DHX" sets.

When I pulled em out I saw their labels are different:

Set 1 got this label:

CM2X1024-6400C4DHX

XMS2-6400 1024MB 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 XMS6405v2.5

07300086

Here is Set2:

CM2X1024-6400C4DHX

XMS2-6400 1024MB 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 2.10V ver2.1

07480687

From quickly scanning some topics in the forum I suppose this means they're incompatible? funny I bought them from the same company 2 months apart... "CM2X1024-6400C4DHX" + "CM2X1024-6400C4DHX" = calamity, who would have thought? :|

Any suggestions for getting out of this mess? can I buy another set somewhere that matches either of these you think? I got a machine that could use one of the sets so no major loss in getting an additional set but I want to make sure there is 2 sets that work together, the odd one out can go into my other machine.

Also any suggestions what voltage & timings to use with the sticks? the second is quite clear on 2.10V but the first is a bit more mysterious, I don't know if v2.5 means version or volt, and I don't want to find out the hard way...

I'm unsure what exact values 4-4-4-12 refers to also, when I open up the memory timings on my "Asus P5N32-E SLI PLUS" mobo I get a whole lot more rows to edit than 4.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Thanks for the 667MHz tip fatalheadache, I've somehow missed that you need to run 4 sticks at a lower Hz than 2, doesn't make much sense to me... but it works.

I'm currently running all 4 at:

Frequency: 333.3MHz

FSB:DRAM: 9:10

CAS (tCL): 4.0

RAS to CAS (tRCD): 4

RAS to Precharge (tRP): 4

Cycle Time (tRAS): 12

Bank Cycle Time (tRC): 19

Command Rate (CR): 2T

And so far it's smooth sailing :), I heard somewhere that tRC = tRP + tRAS, should I set it to 16 instead of 19?

I heard somewhere that if you run more than 1 stick it's a good idea to increase the voltage a bit, I'm currently running on 2.100, any suggestions what I should change it to or if I should?
