Problems with DDR3 1600 memory and Asus Maximus Extreme

I haven't been able to find a stable bios configuration for my memory. I've tried running my memory at 1600 and 1800 and i get several BSOD's or the system wont boot windows at all. Even with the default memory setting of 1333 i get memory errors in windows. I have ran memtester and it states no errors. I tried to run a memory write benchmark test with EVEREST and each time my system freezes. Can you please help me?

Download memtest from--->
and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk.

Enter your BIOS and load setup defaults. Save setup defaults. Reboot and enter your BIOS. Set to these values:

 

Extreme Tweaker

AI Overclock = Manual

CPU Ratio Control = 8.0

FSB Frequency = 400 MHz

PCIE Frequency = 100

DRAM Frequency = DDR3-1600

DRAM Command Rate = 2T

DRAM Timings Control = Manual

CAS# Latency = 7

RAS# to CAS# Delay = 7

RAS# Precharge = 7

RAS# Activate to Precharge = 20

DRAM Static Read Control = Auto

DRAM Dynamic Write Control = Auto

CPU Spread Spectrum = Disabled

PCIE Spread Spectrum = Disabled

CPU Voltage = 1.375V

CPU PLL Voltage = Auto

DRAM Voltage = 1.9V

FSB Termination Voltage = 1.44v

North Bridge Voltage = 1.44v

 

400 X 8 will give you ~3.2Ghz which is close to your default CPU but allows you to make 1600Mhz on the DRAM.

 

Boot to the Memtest CD and allow for two full passes and when passed, enter your Windows installation and test for stability.

I tried the bios setup you gave me and unfortunatly it did not work. I have a digital read out on my bios and with this setup it says Detecting DRAM and will not get past that or restart the system back up. I have to manually restart the computer and i get the overclocking has failed messaged. Also I do not have the option in my bios for 1.44v for North Bridge Volt. I have only odd numbers i think such as 1.43, 1.45. Thanks so much for the help.

I tried those settings and they did not work either. The system wont go past the detecting DRAM. I left it that way for 5 mins and it wouldnt go past that part so i had to reboot. Do i need to let it detect the DRAM for longer then 5 mins or are those bios settings just not working for me?

Things are looking better, this time it went past the DET_DRAM. I did the memtest and it came back with 1 error

I tested each one and they all came back with the same error. I did notice a problem. my ram is actualy twin3x20481800c7dfin. I ordered the 1600 and just noticed that its actually the 1800 they sent me. I'm not complaining at all lol. Sorry, but can you please post the correct settings i should now use?

I tried the tested setting and i got windows to load, after 10 seconds in lock my computer up. After restarting the system hangs on DET_DRAM. I tried this 4 times and it happens each time. I just want the memory to run at 1800and to be stable, is their anyway? I spent alot of money on the ram and just want to get what i paid for.

You need to run the CPU at 450Mhz to gain 1800 on the DRAM. That Quad Core CPU will not make 450Mhz on the FSB so you can't go there. You can best try for 1600Mhz. But with all the issues you have, I would advise you to send it all back and go for something less state of the Art.

 

These values should work to give you 1600Mhz on the DRAM.
