I recently built a new computer and I'm having a heck of a time trying to get it to accept 4 gig of the Crucial BL12864AA804 1GB, Ballistix 240-pin DIMM which is QVL for the mobo. Is there someone here that could help me get it run 4gig stable. I'm currently only able to run 2 gig. I would also like to OC it to 3.0MHz if possible. Any and all help would be very appreciated.

Sorry guys, when I made this post the other night I was suffering from a horendous cold and was not thinking straight. I ordered my system parts from NewEgg and after the order was complete I realized that I had ordered Corsair Memory that was not on the Asus P5N-D QVL list. So I immediatly got online and ordered memory that was on the list. When I built the system I had a heck of a time to get even the QVL mem to work. After researching and trying things I finally got the Corsair memory to work and I now have an awesome sytem running 8gig of Corsair XMS2 DDR2@800MHz. I hope I didn't offend anyone.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have 4 1gb sticks of the same model of RAM. I do not get a POST screen if all 4 are installed on the board. If there are 3 sticks installed, the system works fine. In testing, I have found that it is neither any one single stick of RAM or any one slot. They all work using different sticks and switching between any of the slots.

I have flashed the BIOS from 0111 to 0304 and also ruled out the power supply by removing my 2 cd rom drives, a hard drive, and all case fans. the PSU is 650w and is rated for Sli, which I use, and have removed one of the 8800gts's as well. Here are my specs:

Asus P5N-D

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz

4Gb Corsair XMS DDR2 800

2x Nvidia 8800gts 320Mb

2x WD Raptor in RAID 0

Antec 650w PSU

What is the full model of your DRAM? TWIN2X2048-6400?

Download memtest from--->
and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk.

Enter your BIOS. Load Default Settings. Save Default Settings and restart. Enter the BIOS again and set to these values:

Advanced

JumperFree Configuration

AI Tuning = Manual

System Clocks

NB PCI-E Frequency = 100

DRAM Voltage = 2.0v

HT Voltage = 1.22v

NB Chipset Voltage = 1.45v

FSB & Memory Config

FSB - Memory Clock Mode = Unlinked

FSB - Memory Ratio = 1:1

FSB (QDR) = 1333

Chipset

Memory Timing Setting

tCL = 5

tRCD = 5

tRP = 5

tRAS = 15

Command Per Clock = 2T

Advanced Memory Settings are all to be set on Auto.

Boot to the Memtest CD allowing for two full passes.

Results?
