JayDee
I have 2x512 Value select PC3200 400mhz CL2 - says CL2 on the box. My motherboard recognizes it as CL2.5 and memtest86 v1.11 say the timings are 2.5-3-3-8. I've removed 1 stick and run both as a single 512 and both run at CL2.5. I have an Athlon 64 3000+ so the ram is running at 400mhz. Motherboard can't even change the timings manually - it locks up and I have to reset the Bios. It appears as if I actually paid for CL2 (cost me more than the 2.5's) and just got the Value CL2.5 chips?
vikram404
I think u are right. Return it and get memory with 2.5 CL if u can. The AMD Athlon 64 Platform does not support a Cas Latency of 2. The minimum is 2.5CL. Vikram
I have 2x512 Value select PC3200 400mhz CL2 - says CL2 on the box. JayDee
@vikram404 Thanks! I didn't know that the AMD's weren't capable of CL2! I'll have to lookm into that. I know that some chips that run on a P4 at 2.0 run at 2.5 on AMD. JayDee
